 The Sneaker Exchange Program

September – May

The Sneaker Exchange Program serves public school students grades PreK-12th grade.  The Free and Reduced Lunch List is used to identify economically disadvantaged students in need of a new pair of socks and sneakers.  Elementary students visit the Payless ShoeSource Store as a group.  These visits are scheduled throughout the year from September until the end of the school year.  Secondary students receive a voucher that can be presented at the Payless ShoeSource for a new pair of sneakers.  More than 2,200+ public school students were served by this program during the 2008-2009 school year.  This program is funded by private individuals and grant assistance

Bass & Birdies Golf and Fishing Tournament

Indian River Club Golf Club

This popular event offers golf and fishing enthusiasts the opportunity to navigate the beautiful Indian River Club by golfing and fishing the course.  A combination scoring system is used.  Each participant will fish four holes (catch and release).  The more fish caught, the better the score!  Many prizes awarded.  Registration fee of $300 per person includes breakfast, lunch, green fees, awards and prizes.

 “Teach Me How to Get the Money” Grant Workshop

This workshop is open to all public and private school teachers to learn how to apply for funding from the Foundation’s Great Ideas! Grants program.  The presentation explains about the Foundation’s process and teaches basic grant writing skills.

Elementary Awards Ceremony: Sunday, January 31st, Sebastian River High School Performing Arts Center, 2:00 p.m.

Secondary Awards Ceremony: Thursday, February 4th, Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, 6:00 p.m.

Windsor Gun Club, Platt Station in Fellsmere

This annual sport shooting event raises necessary funding for the Foundation’s programs.  The popular event begins with breakfast buffet.  A random draw determines teams of three.  A combination of sport shooting activities is enjoyed by participants.  The event concludes with a barbeque lunch and awards ceremony. The event is limited to 60 participants.
