Our History
Our History, Mission and Goals
Founded in 1991 by Mrs. Marion Block, Ms. Alma Lee Loy and Mr. Dan Richardson, the Education Foundation of Indian River County, Inc. was defined as a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to working through funding initiatives designed to enrich educational opportunities for children enrolled in public, private, parochial and home schools throughout Indian River County.
Over the past 31 years the Education Foundation has worked diligently to build programs which have been carefully designed to answer a variety of needs within our community and school district: the Indian River Regional Science & Engineering Fair, STEP into Kindergarten, Sneaker Exchange, and High-Impact Teacher Grants to fund innovative programs and teacher practices are but a few of the programs that have been successfully implemented over the course of the Education Foundation’s history. These efforts have helped to establish the Education Foundation as the premier non-profit organization for connecting local funders with the needs of the K-12 education system in Indian River County. This valuable relationship allows us to continue to work on the front lines in our educational system, providing important resources and programs to ensure that children are not left behind on their academic journey.
